The MXO2 does in fact cross / down / up convert.

also don't forget its moving _uncompressed_ 10 bit HD between the box and your computer.

they also include both laptop and tower interface cards in the box so you can move it or take it on the road when needed. I've used it to run some live shows already.

something else, its got more audio outs then you can hook up. 4 XLR's, and 6 RCA for direct 5.1 SRS mixing. just plug in speakers and go. no adapters ect required. you can also just use them as lots of stereo pairs for feeding multiple audio devices like speakers, VTRs, mixers, ect. not to need a DA on location is very handy.
