Re: Migrating to new NLE from Edit

Like Ron and Rick, I also have been using Sony Vegas - for the past 2½ years. I find it fast to edit with and way more powerful than discreet edit. Unlike the other guys, I often use it with clients sitting alongside. In fact, one client raved about how much faster it was than FCP, which he had been using for the past several years. Yep, rendering is not earth shattering, especially when you add Magic Bullet effects. But these days, we use different procedures. Clients no longer want to walk out with a VHS copy. Because there is so much more 'doctoring' of the image, clients expect a heavy processing load. Usually, by the time they get back to the office, I've send them a WMV for final approval, and commercials go out by FTP, longform by courier. When you compare the speed and productivity, reliability, and the small capital outlay, you can't help falling in love.
