[Ron Shook]
"Could this signal a massive paradigm switch in how Avid editing is done, that they couldn't get ready in time for NAB and decided to save their money for the roll out?"
On the contrary, they're making their announcements in February and going on the road. There will be people who see the new stuff BEFORE the show this time.
The whole idea of waiting for a show is ludicrous. Driving development to tradeshow deadlines has cost the industry even more than the tradeshows have...especially when you factor in fixing those releases. :-)
[Ron Shook]
"Doesn't Microsoft have a stake in Avid, not that it necessarily has any bearing..., but?"
I don't know the rest of the story, but Avid bought Softimage from Microsoft.
If MSFT still has a stake in Avid, I'll bet it's smaller than the stake they have in AAPL. :-)
