It's not Facebook per se, it's "social networking" in general that's a big deal. Facebook is just the darling of the moment even though MySpace is still a lot bigger. Social Networking is the next step in internet search - finding things through personal recommendations rather than just a text look up. Speculators are trying to figure out who is going to be the next Google. Also, when a lot of people gather together, advertisers tend to salivate a lot.
