[Ron Shook]
"[Tim Wilson] "The one NLE vendor, and I mean the only one, to filter their audience to virtually exclusively pros is Avid."
GV is well on their way to making it 2 and they have a far more limited pro market than Avid when it comes to NLEs, limited mostly to broadcast news cutting. Once the cash cow of the digital transition is past, they aren't liable to be prepared to weather the drop off in my estimation. We'll see?"
Ummmmm ...
You guys ever hear of this little outfit called Autodesk? (They don't really make portable desks for your car.)
Seem to recall they had a division called ... oh yeah ... Discreet ... that made really HOT professional editing systems.
Still do, I believe ... as a matter of fact, they're over twice the size of Avid AND Thompson (parent of GV) combined.
Put that in your Grass Valley and Smoke it :>)
