AVCHD (.mts) file clipper/trimmer/editor

Hi,

I have recently shot some footage which is in .mts format. There is a lot of footage and I want to keep the original - however i do not want to keep all of it. Is there a way to trim a .mts file without then converting it to another format? I have found lots of programs that trim but do not allow you to stop there...you must convert the file...

have tried MPEGsteamslip too...

vegas?

any help is greatly appreciated
