Corporate HD Video standards
by Aaron Stella on Nov 6, 2008 at 8:59:43 pm

I work for a global fortune 50 company in their communication resources department. We are currently discussing what video standards we will accept from outside agencies in regards to HD. What we are currently debating over, is weather we should tell our agencies to deliver whatever codec the video was shot in, but in file format, or if we should just say we will only accept, say, ProRes422.

We have a full in-house production staff, with more-than-capable people and equipment to convert video. Also taking into account that Final Cut Pro will accept most standard video formats onto its time line, I am leaning towards saying that we will accept the original codec that the video was shot it. For example, if it was shot on XDCAM, deliver it to us in XDCAM, and we will do any necessary conversion.

I am curious to find out what the people of the creative cow universe think. Please, what are your thoughts?
