I should be beaten for possibly giving you wrong information, so I apologize in advance if I am wrong here - BUT -

via firewire, the native codec for Panasonic DVCProHD is 720p only. If you want 1080i, you go into the menus of the Panasonic 1200 to change the output format to 1080 (it will cross convert) - but to my knowlege (and I could be wrong) - this will not work via firewire (only 720p).

SO, you get a Blackmagic or AJA card, and capture via HD-SDI at 1080i, and you will have no problems.
