If you mean what is the difference between Sony's HDCAM and HDCAM SR, the answer is: the native resolution and the sampling. The native format of HDCAM is 8bit DCT compressed 3:1:1, 1440x1080 non-square pixel with 144Mbit/s bandwidth, and this signal is upconverted to 1920x1080 while playing out. The HDCAM SR is true 10bit MPEG4 compressed 4:2:2 full 1920x1080 resolution at 440Mbit/s (in SQ mode)or 10bit MPEG4 4:4:4 full 1920x1080 at 880Mbit/s in HQ mode.
