Panasonic HD DVCAM 14000 audio playback issues

Hi I'm new. I'm not sure this is the right place for this.

I've been using a panasonic HD DVCAM 14000 deck to log and capture DV and HDVX tapes. One day last week, as I started up the deck it wouldn't play back audio. The audio levels didn't register at all. The image played back fine. We tried to troubleshoot the problem to no avail (no changes we made in the settings did anything). As I was waiting to hear from the panasonic tech support, suddenly and for no apparent reason, the deck started to work again.

The deck is very new, and I can't afford to have the deck sporadicly stop working. I need to know why the deck stopped working.

Has anyone heard of this happening? Has anyone else had audio issues with this deck? Does anyone have an idea of what could cause it to happen?

Again I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, and if it isn't, then can anyone point me to where I should be looking for an answer to this question.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
