AL 7.2 2d classic editor and FX editor settings?

Do the setting I set in site FX Editor settings work for any editor other than the 2d editor classic?
I was testing the various down scaling filters and with 7.1 could choose various filters and see results with the 2d editor. With 7.2 I'm not seeing the different filters change the results.
Is there a good source of information on the advanced settings of the FX editor?
I don't know what to set for the system tab.
Seems BMP is default video draw method.
Where can I find what these settings do?
What color space does AVID liquid work in?
RGB? YCrCb? Is it internally rgb444?
I'm trying to figure out the best way to do the minimum color space changes and also keep the chroma sub sampling the same or better than my source.
Right now my source is AVCHD off a canon HF10 at 1920x1080@30P.
I convert it to MPEG-2 Ionly 50Mbit files and it looks great.
Both AVCHD from my camera and MPEG-2 are 4:2:0 so I'm having trouble figuring out the best pipeline to work with from in to edit to out.
Thanks,
-michael
