16/9 effect ?

Hello everyone,
I have a little trouble with liquid 7.2
I seek to have an "effect" 16 / 9, but I do not ...
I work on a timeline pal 4:3, where HD flows and sd are mixed and properly displayed. (16 / 9 in the 4:3)
Everything going well at this level.
I must modify clips throught picture in picture:
I move and modify clip for "incrust" in the main plan.
such a way that the plans "modified" covers 16/9 bands on principal plan ... This is quite annoying ...
Is there a way to add bands on top without going through a aproximative crop wich can "disform" modifications, like 16/9 effect in "avid media composer" deal that adds the band-on impression?
Sorry for my bad english... i'm not english speaker.
Best regards
