Yeah, it can be hit and miss, but if it's only a few months old, and using a Reneas chipset, it may likely work just fine.

My laptop doesn't use a Reneas chipset, and it still works perfectly, use the Shuttle everyday.

I bought mine from B&H Photo also, they have a pretty good return policy.
