It appears that at least initially the TB port on the BmCC is intended for use with a TB-equipped computer running the included UltraScope software.
If BmD implements them the BmCC's TB port may have other uses later, or perhaps 3rd parties may be able to provide additional support. But if I understand what John Brawley is stating in the following thread, it's for UltraScope support initially, and maybe more capability down the road. See:

As for transferring files from the BmCC's SSD to other devices, it appears the primary method will be to temporarily insert the SSD drive into a drive caddie/cradle connected to a computer which in turn is connected to internal or external HDD or RAID storage. Drive caddies are available from a variety of vendors, as are interfaces to connect to them (fastest to slowest: SATA, Firewire 800/400, USB 2/3), and caddies are relatively inexpensive.
Myself I'm looking into acquiring a dual SATA port Express34/PCMCIA adapter card for use with my non-TB MacBook Pro 17" i7 laptop, which should allow me to connect an external SATA caddie and external HDD for fast file transfers from the SSD drive for editing (from the HDD) and backups (to multiple HDDs). YMMV.
