HDLink Pro 3D DisplayPort -> DVI-D

I'm getting an HDLink Pro to use with my DeckLink and JVC monitor which lacks SDI.
I intend to upgrade the JVC at some point – likely with a DisplayPort compatible monitor – so it seems wise to get the DisplayPort model of the HDLink over the DVI-D model.
Am I right in thinking that in order to get to the DVI-D input on my current monitor I simply need a passive DisplayPort to DVI-D cable or adapter? (HD only, no dual link for 2k currently required.)
=====
(A simpler question, if it's the right one, might be: is the DisplayPort model "DisplayPort Multi-mode" compatible?)
