Product Shots

I have to setup a system for shooting jewellery products on video using a rotating platform (Kaidan MDT-19) for one of my clients. I think I have an idea of how to do it.
Could anyone recommend what camera I should use? I have a Sony Hard Drive camera, but I don't know if that's the best to use.
Lighting is another issue. How many lights should I use? Any recommendations on the kind of lights?
Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.
Mark
