Thanks for the help.

Currently I am experimenting with Erightsoft's SUPER and Moyea Flash Video MX Pro which I think utilises the FFMPEG project. I am aware of others like ON2. I will check out your suggestions. Thanks for the confirmation about H.264.

Out of interest is there a difference with SWF and FLV if one uses the same codec ie H.264?

Finally, yes I agree with the limitations of MiniDV. I believe I need to get an HD camera. However I have started to look at the Canon EOS 550 which shoots excellent quality video, but the clips are limited to 12 mins for HD and 30 mins for SD (in Europe). Very good in low light at an excellent price. So it may be a useful tool for getting high quality footage.
