Portrait orientation of streaming video
by Rob Jackson on Nov 2, 2009 at 6:18:02 pm

Hello all,

I am installing a webcam and would like to install it so the shot is in portrait mode (i.e. turn the camera on its side). It's a standard security camera running over rg59 to a computer that's encoding with Windows Media Encoder (that's what I've got and pretty much no budget to get anything better). Is there any way to set this up so that when viewed on our site, the video will actually be portrait rather than portrait video inside a landscape box (letterboxed on the sides)? The webcam is shooting a massive tank window in an aquarium that is much taller than it is wide, and I'd like to give it that effect on the website.

I found this thread about pre-recorded footage in portrait mode, but not sure how or if I can make it work with a live feed. http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/117/856941#857149

Thanks for any help you can provide!
