corrupted on-demand .wma files

Hopefully someone here has a suggestion to help me.
For the second time in two weeks I have been notified of a program that is on our server that has gaps in the audio. When I try to play it back through the WM player, it plays till it hits a gap then I get the notice that the file is corrupt. If I bring the file into Vegaspro8, I can see 4-5 15 to 20 second gaps in the audio.
Question:
is there a diagnostic tool that I can use to try and find out what happened to these audio programs? they are both over a year old and I don't have the original anymore to see if the problem lies with the original.
the company that I work for is using a windows media server to stream both audio and video. Is there anything that could be happening on the server that could be corrupting these files?
