So, web video looks a lot better than it used to. The big part of that is due to massive increases in consumer bandwidth. But improvements in codecs also have played a significant part.
Just curious to quantify it, I did a test comparing today's latest Windows Media live encoder in Expression Encoder 2 compared to the launch version of WMV9 from 2003. It's a pretty dramatic difference.
