Well, I think a standalone launch of WM player takes whatever volume you last set it at. Just confirmed (WM9).

As I recall (don't seem to have any examples handy), volume of an embed of the WM9 object can be set with a statement such as:
param name="volume" value="XX"
(with the statement encased in left and right carat signs, which don't seem to display on cowpages) where XX is some value between 0 and 100.

Somewhere I have an example of code in an index file as well, I think it's a simpler statement such as volume=XX.

I did a quick test of a file resident on a WM server with no volume statements in the code, and in the embed of the WM9 object the volume does indeed reset to a default value every time. Could be 50 or a little less. The same served file opened from the WM9 player directly does not seem to change the default behavior of the standalone player as noted above. Didn't test the WM7 object or standalone.

Which is all very interesting, I'm sure, but what is going on with the original poster?
