WMV9 is backwards compatible to WMP6.4 (WMA9 is CBR only in 6.4, and WMA Pro needs 7.1).
You're right Craig, WMV9 Advanced doesn't add a lot for the average user. It *does* add DeNoise, though, which if it was implemented in an easier way than registry settings, might be used more. :-)
