Get the AVID codec...

Hi Andy
I have the same system. We did the following:
Format a firewire drive to NTFS. Connect to PC AVID.
Consolidate media to this new firewire drive on the avid, using "convert media" setting, and select a DNxHD codec. This is a slow process - be prepared to spend time on this.
Once you have a new sequence on the avid that references the new DNxHD clips on the firewire drive, select this sequence and export AAF with links to the new media.
Download AVID's newest quicktime codec for mac and install it on the FCP system. This will enable quicktime (and FCP) to play the reference qt files still in the AVID OMFI files folder on the ntfs firewire drive.
Eject the NTSC drive and connect to the FCP system. Use audomatic duck to import the AAF sequence. It creates a folder on the FCP system's desktop containing quicktime reference files, which refers to the original (new) DNxHD media on the NTFS firewire drive.
Now Wes, we have an AVID sequence containing HD clips from Panasonic P2, HDV and XDCAM HD. This process outlined above works perfectly for the XDCAM and HDV clips, but the P2 clips fail. Automatic duck says it can not find them, even though the AVID transcoded all the media to DNxHD! How does that work? The XDCAM and HDV clips all work when transcoded to DNXHD, the P2 clips (native DVCPRO hd 1080i 50) don't.
Please help?
thanks
Francois
