Presentation Details Advances in a UHF ATSC Transmitter Platform
(Cincinnati, Ohio--December 1, 2008) At the 2008 Western Association of Broadcast Engineers (WABE) Convention, Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, will present a paper delivered by Martyn Horspool, Television Product Manager, Harris Broadcast detailing technological and architectural advances in the Harris UHF multimedia transmitter platform.
The presentation, entitled “Applying New Technology to a Liquid-Cooled Transmitter Architecture,” will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 3:30-4:15 pm during the 2008 WABE show.
At this year’s WABE convention, taking place from November 30-December 2, 2008 at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in the Inner Harbour, in Victoria, B.C., the exhibit floor has been sold out and a dynamic roster of technology papers is planned. An annual event, the WABE convention highlights the best of radio and television technologies and provides a venue for engineers to share broadcast industry-related information, experiences, and expertise.
During his presentation, Horspool will detail how Harris’ application of best-in-class RF devices and other architectural design advancements benefit a newly developed liquid-cooled UHF transmitter platform and serve the user with cost efficiencies and a reliable platform. These advantages facilitate the transition to digital broadcasting and future broadcast technologies.
At the show, Harris will also exhibit a broad array of products, including the first-ever Canadian showing of the Harris Maxiva™ UAX UHF transmitter, a cost-effective transmission platform that is particularly well suited to low-power analog and digital broadcasting. The new Maxiva UAX is an air-cooled transmitter that outputs from 10 W to 2 KW of power.
Harris will also exhibit its Zandar™ Predator II™ HD multi-image display and control system that’s scalable beyond its four to 32 channel capacity by adjoining multiple systems; the Harris Inscriber® G7™ integrated HD/SD broadcast graphics system for creating live 3D/2D graphics and effects; and the InfoCaster™ suite of Harris Digital Signage™ products for creating and managing complex, networkable digital signage presentations. Harris will also demonstrate the latest test and measurement tools and applications in the Videotek product line.
