(October 13, 2008) CalDigit has been added new products, prices have dropped, and capacities have been increased. Also, the price list will come in a new format that is easier to read, and contains more information about each CalDigit product.
The CalDigit VR
The CalDigit VR is an exciting and innovative product that has been added to the CalDigit product line up. In a nutshell the VR is a combination of the FirewireVR and the S2VR Duo, but in a new and improved chassis. The CalDigit VR is the most advanced two drive RAID system in its class, supporting a quadruple interface for easy connectivity (Firewire 400/800, USB 2.0, and eSATA). There is no performance loss when daisy chaining the VR using Firewire 800. The VR's modular design provides two hot swappable drive modules and an easy to read front LCD. With support for RAID 0, 1, and JBOD the VR can reach speeds of up to 200MB/s, and includes an easy to use GUI for configuration and monitoring which supports email notification. The VR packs a ton of performance into a small package, making it a truly portable solution.
The CalDigit RAID Card and HDElement
The CalDigit RAID Card is an incredibly flexible hardware RAID solution that supports online migration and expansion. This means you can pay as your business grows and you'll never have to worry about losing your data. The CalDigit RAID Card features an Intel XScale processor, 256MB of fixed cache and battery backup. It supports 100% hardware RAID performance and protection for up to four internal drives and twelve externally via the HDElement (an enclosure which contains 4 drives). The HDElement connects directly to the CalDigit RAID Card through the extremely fast mini-SAS ports on the rear of the card. The RAID Shield software makes it easy to manage the complete RAID system and provides advanced event notification. The CalDigit RAID card has all the innovative technology found in the HDPro like ASTT and support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and JBOD. The more drives connected to the CalDigit RAID Card, the faster the performance. With just four drives, speeds of up to 245MB/s can be reached with RAID 5 protection, upgrade to 16 drives and the speed increases to 500MB/s. The CalDigit RAID Card and HDElement are completely bootable and even Bootcamp bootable, something no other RAID card can do. Several accessories are available for different configurations, making the CalDigit RAID Card and HDElement a flexible and powerful solution. The CalDigit RAID Card now comes standard with the battery back up option, and the prices of the HDElement (2TB and greater) have been reduced. A new 6TB model is now available.
The HDOne
The CalDigit HDOne provides the same incredible performance as the HDPro, with an unbelievable price. This eight drive hardware RAID system features and Intel XScale processor and 256MB of fixed cache. All components are modular and easily replaceable. The HDOne supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and JBOD and can reach sustained speeds of 440MB/s with RAID 5 protection. The direct connect external PCIe connection is extremely fast, in fact 5 times faster than fibre solutions. Because the hardware RAID is built in, the HDOne can be used with the eLane-1ex, making a 100% hardware RAID solution for a laptop. The HDOne also uses RAID Shield, an easy to use GUI allows users to easily configure different RAID levels and provides advanced event notification. ASTT technology ensures that sustained data throughput is maintained. The HDOne is ideal for users that desire the ultimate in performance on a budget.
The HDPro
The CalDigit HDPro is the most innovative eight drive hardware RAID solution around. Featuring an Intel XScale processor, 256MB of cache (upgradeable to 2GB), optional redundant hot swappable power supplies, and two hot swappable fans. The HDPro provides stunning performance with true hardware RAID protection for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and JBOD. In RAID 5 the HDPro reaches sustained speeds of over 440MB/s thanks to ASTT technology, which was exclusively developed by CalDigit for unmatched sustained data throughput. The direct connect external PCIe connection is extremely fast, in fact 5 times faster than fibre solutions. Because the hardware RAID is built in, the HDPro can be used with the eLane-1ex, making the first hardware RAID solution for a laptop. The HDPro is also SAN ready and expansion is virtually unlimited with the addition of the CalDigit Switch. RAID Shield the intuitive and easy to use GUI allows users to easily configure different RAID levels and provides advanced event notification. The HDPro is designed to run 24/7, with no downtime.
The HDPro and HDOne have a new 12TB model. Pricing has also been lowered on the HDPros with higher capacities making the new pricing very competitive. The prices of all spare hard drives have also been reduced making upgrading and replacement drive more practical.
