First Media Frame Engine™ Based Application Supports Real-Time Video Output
(Maricopa, Arizona--September 2, 2008) Media Frame, LLC is announcing immediate availability of RTVS, the first application to be based on the Media Frame Engine™, a technology designed to be the most powerful, versatile software-based system for delivering Windows Media, QuickTime™ and still graphic content to air with the infrastructure to support any digital media formats.
The Media Frame Engine provides native support for all formats that it reads providing instant access to video and graphic content. This is the first playback server on the market to natively support QuickTime movie files with any QuickTime installed codec.
RTVS uses ground breaking technology to perform real-time frame rate and video format conversions. All content played through RTVS is up converted or down converted to match the video I/O hardware format in real-time with full alpha channel support on each output channel. It has complete control of the speed of the playback of the video so that slow motion is simply a setting on a slider bar.
RTVS and other soon to be released Media Frame Engine based applications are sold through authorized Media Frame Engine Integration Experts, companies that specialize in providing the most advanced video technology products for broadcasters, post production and digital content creators. Media Frame Engine Integration Experts build solutions customized to individual customer needs. This is possible due to Media Frame’s modular solutions approach. Users are not locked in to purchasing more capabilities than they initially need yet are not penalized when upgrading the capabilities when their requirements change.
Media Frame RTVS solutions can be as basic as single channel standard definition output and can grow to multi-channel HD output with alpha channel and embedded audio support. RTVS can intelligently route 5.1 channels and mixdown 5.1 to 2 channel in real-time.
In addition to all of the video standards including NTSC, PAL, and all HD formats, the Media Frame Engine can play and convert non-standard formats to standard video formats in real-time. Because of this, RTVS is expected to find use in non entertainment fields such as medical imaging as well as other scientific applications.
The Media Frame Engine can deal with interlaced video, any field order, and progressive formats and real-time convert them to the specifications of the I/O hardware. It also natively deals with anamorphic video, pillars, letterbox, and center cut cropping in real-time.
All conversions apply to the RGB and alpha channels of the source media and are carried all the way through the system to output. Alpha channels are sent to the hardware and output if the card supports dual-link output.
“We are very glad to be shipping RTVS,” indicated Media Frame Co-founder Glen Stephens. “We have put a lot of effort into making sure that RTVS addresses the concerns of our prospective customers and I can say that it does that very nicely. I am confident that our integration partners will be able to provide solutions that outperform every other playout server in practically every aspect imaginable – and will do so at pricing that will change the nature of the server market for the better.”
RTVS is an open-architecture product. It relies on fast host systems with nVidia GPU technology but is hardware independent as it applies to I/O technology. Video I/O cards from AJA (Xena 2K), Bluefish444 (HD Lust) and DeltaCast (DELTA –hd key) are supported now, other cards will be supported in the future.
RTVS systems provided by Media Frame Engine Integration Experts will start at $29,900.
Media Frame has chosen DMI of Las Vegas Nevada to represent their products to integrators and end users.
