Pro16® Gear Delivers High Fidelity Audio Distribution
(Seoul, Korea--July 18, 2008) A recent installation of Aviom gear at the University of Ulsan ice rink proves that you don’t have to sacrifice sound quality when transporting audio over long distances. The Korean university wanted a way to send audio from its radio station/studio to remote clusters of speakers in its ice rink over a stretch of some 500 feet/150 meters.
Transporting audio signals over such an expanse without sacrificing quality often presents system designers and contractors with a challenge and end users with expensive options. This project at the University of Ulsan was no different.
When the university called in integration company Dong Hwa Electronics Co. Ltd, it found a solution. With the support of Aviom's Korean distributor SOUNDUS Corporation, Dong Hwa Electronics’ Han Sung-Sun successfully created an Aviom audio network using an AN-16/i Input Module and five AV-P2 Output Modules for source selection. This provided a solution that exceeded both the contractor's and the university's expectations.
Based on Aviom’s groundbreaking proprietary audio transport protocol, A-Net®, the AN-16/i provides 16 balanced line-level inputs into a Pro16 system. Audio is converted to digital and transmitted via A-Net, up to 500 feet/150 meters over Cat-5e. A dedicated audio Thru is available for each input channel, allowing the AN-16/i to be seamlessly inserted into an existing audio signal path. This maintains crystal clear audio quality and strength of the audio signal as it travels over long distances. The AV-P2 Output Module provides up to two channels of analog outputs from a Pro16 A-Net digital audio stream. The analog output level for each channel is set with front-panel switches, and the modules can be connected in any combination of serial or parallel connections using Pro16 A-Net distributors.
Together, these products created a system that the contractor considered ideal because it not only distributed high-fidelity audio over a long distance and provided multiple speaker sends, but utilized inexpensive and easy-to-install Cat-5e cables. "The most important thing was that the expense for the installation was less than we expected," says Han. Pointing out that the sound engineer at the ice rink was also pleased with the sound provided by the system, he adds, "Aviom performs better than any other product at a long distance."
Aviom is the world leader and pioneer of personal monitor mixing technology with the popular Pro16® Series, as well as the exclusive developer of the revolutionary Pro64® Series of audio networking products. All Aviom products are powered by A-Net®, the company’s groundbreaking high-speed digital audio transmission protocol. Aviom products solve problems in a variety of different environments, including live sound reinforcement, audio recording studios, houses of worship, theater, broadcasting and post-production facilities and a host of commercial installations. Aviom’s entire line of high-quality professional audio products is designed and manufactured in the USA.
