News: 2008 L.A. Film Festival & L.A Times Select Inmotion Studios To Create Opening Sequence
by Cow News Droid on Jul 9, 2008 at 5:10:38 pm

(Los Angeles, California--July 9, 2008) inMotion Studios Inc., (www.inmotionstudios.com) a Los Angeles based film and broadcast design firm was chosen to create and produce the animated graphic opening sequence for the prestigious 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival (www.lafilmfest.com).

InMotion Studio’s opening sequence was presented prior to every film screened and can be seen at www.inmotionstudios.com/blog. The 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival was presented by FILM Independent and the Los Angeles Times.

“We are extremely honored to be the creative team chosen,” says inMotion Studio’s Executive Producer Stephen Fromkin, “Our company is a small boutique in comparison to our competitors. We are having an incredible year.”

As requested by FILM Independent, inMotion’s sequence is an extension of the print material that had already been created for the festival. “inMotion Studios took our existing branding and really ran with it, creating a fast and fun open that expresses our theme of The Audience is King,” notes Los Angeles Film Festival Director Richard Raddon.

inMotion Studios Founder Marcel Valcarce, also a professor of animation at USC Film School notes, “We chose simple story concepts to bring home the Audience is King theme. It seemed to resonate with Richard Raddon and the entire board. Adds inMotion Studio’s Creative Director Harold De Jesus, “We see the conceptual phase as the most important part of any project. Without a great concept even the best animation falls flat.”

The opening sequence combined 2.5D animation and full 3D animation. inMotion seamlessly combined 3D animation created in Cinema 4D with additional animation created in Adobe After Effects. The completed package includes the main opening sequence, festival sponsor credits, and an animated large format advertisement to play on the Hollywood and Highland “zipper” screen. inMotion delivered 15 different versions (with different screening sponsors) in both flat 2k and CinemaScope resolutions. All design and animation was completed by inMotion Studios using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Maxon Cinema 4D on Apple Macintosh platforms.
