(Hong Kong--May 13, 2008) Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announces that India’s Sun TV Network Limited has installed a range of Harris interoperable broadcast solutions, including Panacea™ small routers, the NEO® SuiteView™ multi-source display processor, Videotek® test and measurement solutions and the X75™ all-in-one processor.
The equipment is being used in Sun TV Network’s broadcast of its Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada regional language channels and a direct-to-home (DTH) service.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Harris and knew we could depend upon the company’s best-in-class products, service and support as we work to meet the increasing viewership demands of customers throughout southern India,” said Mr. S. Kannan, vice president of technology, Sun TV Network. “Additionally, as all of our channels utilize manual playout, ease of use was a key factor in our decision. The Harris products work well together, are user-friendly and have a quick learning curve, all of which have been key to the success of our broadcast operations.”
Established in 1992, Sun TV Network is India’s second-largest television network and offers a wide variety of television channels — including regional news, entertainment and children’s programming — in four languages covering the whole of southern India. The network's flagship and most popular channel is the Tamil-language Sun TV.
The sale was facilitated by Harris Corporation’s local distributor, Primeasure Technologies Private Limited.
