News: Chyron and the Associated Press Join Forces to Launch Unique Online Graphics Creation Service
by Cow News Droid on Apr 15, 2008 at 4:07:11 pm

(Las Vegas NAB--April 15, 2008) Chyron (AMEX: CGS) and The Associated Press (AP) today announced a wide ranging collaboration in online graphics creation and composition, incorporating current news, entertainment, sports and other topical content.

Today's unveiling at NAB of AXISNews, powered by Chyron's new AXIS online graphics system, offers broadcasters and web producers access to AP's extraordinary up-to-the-minute content right at their desktop. Now producers, reporters or anyone with a computer can build topical news graphics, incorporating the full range of images available from AP, without the need for artists or complex hardware and software.

Future initiatives include joint R&D and cooperative marketing for customers and channels worldwide. The agreement builds on the strength of an existing relationship between the two organizations, and the integration of AP's ENPS newsroom products and MOS protocol, with Chyron's product line.

"By coupling up-to-the-minute AP GraphicsBank content with Chyron's revolutionary AXISNews content creation tool, Chyron and AP offer broadcasters easy to use high-quality news graphics creation services. This collaboration between Chyron and AP will assist broadcasters to improve multimedia graphics creation and publishing workflow and operational efficiency," commented Michael Wellesley-Wesley, Chyron CEO. He added, "In the future we plan to develop and market further products in conjunction with AP to provide a wide range of online services to address the needs of all online media."

"AP is proud to expand our relationship with Chyron to include AXISNews. Thousands of newsrooms turn to AP GraphicsBank for rich content and this new tool will make it much easier for newsrooms around the country to quickly produce high quality graphics for their newscasts and web sites. This is a real breakthrough for our customers because it brings ready to air content from AP GraphicsBank directly into a producer friendly platform," said Jon Petrovich, AP Vice President for Domestic Broadcast.

"Our development of web based creation services in conjunction with AP greatly simplifies the user experience whilst providing seamless billing integration and image management in a rights usage environment," added Kevin Prince, Chyron's COO. He continued, "The collaboration between Chyron and AP is providing our clients in broadcast and new media facilities with the highest quality content creation tools without the traditional issues of installing and managing expensive network systems."
