All-in-one Automatic Data Replication and Permanent Open Archive with Removable Media Support
(Las Vegas NAB--April 15, 2008) Today at NAB 2008, exhibitor Digi-Data Corporation announces the Archive Management System (AMS) series – an open, distributed archive solution. Optimized for the broadcast and content creation markets, this family of solutions provides the right balance of price and features to enable power efficient storage management in high data growth environments.
“When the price of disk dropped significantly, most companies just added more primary storage capacity to handle data growth,” states Mitch Schwartz, VP of Sales for Digi-Data Corporation. “Now, with more rich media combined with a move towards 'green' computing, policy based, multi-tiered storage management is coming back in a hurry.”
An open solution, AMS uses simple NAS connectivity and writes files in standard formats insuring accessibility into the future. Files move automatically through a hierarchy of storage technologies, using a disk “cache” to front-end either Blu-ray optical or LTO-4 tape library systems. For environments needing fast access, higher throughput or multiple, concurrent access requirements, the Continuum G Series T-4000 array can be configured as first tier of storage offering up to 840 TB of power-managed disk that can be shared between the archive server and several fibre channel storage pools.
Satellite appliances can be employed as remote archive systems which are continuously synchronized with the main system allowing companies to build private storage utilities to keep control over digital assets in distributed work environments. All data transmissions are encrypted for security.
NAB attendees can see the new Archive Management System (AMS) at the Digi Data booth #SU6805.
