Real World Video Compression Demystifies Video Compression

(Las Vegas NAB--April 15, 2008) Inlet Technologies®, the leader in advanced encoding solutions for new media, announced that Andy Beach, director of product management, has written a new book, Real World Video Compression, published by Peachpit Press.

Real World Video Compression demystifies the various approaches to video compression. Readers will learn how to compress their video according to the specific requirements of their projects and will learn best practices by following Beach’s practical tips. Experts in the field lend their own solutions in several sidebars throughout the book, making this a valuable resource for anyone learning to encode video, whether they are bloggers, DVD authors, video editors, or students.

“I wanted to write a book that would educate users on the production-related questions and problems typically faced when trying to publish content to the web,” said Andy. “This book is really designed for anyone who uses compression as part of their job – whether that’s video editors who need to deliver DVD-ready material or web producers who need to put video online as part of their site.”

The NAB Show, which takes place April 14-17 in Las Vegas, is the world's largest electronic media show covering the development, delivery and management of professional video and audio content across all mediums. Beach will share his expertise with NAB attendees as a featured speaker in two sessions: “Encoding Video and Audio for Maximum Impact” on April 14th from 2:00-3:15 p.m.; and “Television Networks and New Media” on April 15th from 3:30-4:45 p.m.

Prior to joining Inlet, Beach served as the Director of Product Development at Magnet Media where he oversaw the creation of Zoom In Online and co-founded New York-based interactive agency Last Exit, where he led several award-winning interactive projects. Beach brings significant expertise and experience in the field of Internet video, digital asset management and rich media solutions. He has spoken at numerous industry conferences and has taught digital filmmaking and encoding at the School of Visual Arts.

Copies of the book can be purchased at Peachpit and Amazon.com.
