News: Sans Digital Introduces SAFE33 / SAFE50 2-Bay Storage Subsystems
by Cow News Droid on Apr 1, 2008 at 3:34:28 pm

MobileSTOR Plus Series

(City of Industry, California--April 1, 2008) Sans Digital, a leading provider of high performance storage subsystems, is introducing its exclusive and newly designed MobileSTOR Plus direct attached compact hard drive storage series that includes the MS2UT+ (release date: 04/30/2008) / MS2UTN+ (release date: 04/01/2008) 2-bay subsystems. The Mobile Plus series is intended to bring flexible and affordable storage solutions to home and small office environments.

The MobileSTOR Series MS2UT+ (with LCD display) / MS2UTN+ (without LCD display) is a fully loaded 2-bay external RAID solution designed for home and small business storage needs. With simplicity and flexibly in mind, this series is equipped with two hot-swappable 3.5” hard drive trays, as well as both USB 2.0 and eSATA host interfaces. In addition to JBOD, Spanning, RAID 0 and RAID 1, MS2UT+ / MS2UTN+ also utilizes the latest Silicon Image 5744 chipset, supporting the newest SAFE33 and SAFE50 technology. SAFE33 and SAFE50 allows the creation of two hard drive volumes where 1/3 (SAFE33) or 1/2 (SAFE50) of the volume is used for mirroring and the rest is used for Spanning (Big). In comparison to SAFE (RAID 1) mode, which utilizes both hard drives for mirroring, SAFE33 and SAFE50 increase storage space by setting aside a portion of disk space for regular data storage while performing mirror simultaneously. By incorporating SAFE33 and SAFE50, MS2UT+ / MS2UTN+ eliminates the cost of additional hard drives needed for various storage modes.

"Silicon Image is pleased that our SteelVine® storage processors have been chosen by Sans Digital to help enable the advanced functionality of their MobileSTOR Plus series storage devices," said Conrad Maxwell, SteelVine® Senior Product Line Manager at Silicon Image. “Sans Digital has a reputation of providing affordable, state-of-the-art storage solutions and Silicon Image is proud to be associated with them." The MS2UT+ / MS2UTN+ features stylish and lightweight aluminum housing, as well as cable-less back panel design. To reinforce flexibility, individual units are available in both silver and black (B) to suit personal references and styles. Both models incorporated operating system independent design with support for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. “One of Sans Digital’s primary goal is to lead the storage market with state-of-the-art technology,” stated Grandy Chen, Sans Digital’s President. “These newly improved additions to the MobileSTOR series is guaranteed to provide unparallel performance and value to meet the most intensive data storage demands.” For more details on MS2UT+ / MS2UTN+, please visit: http://www.sansdigital.com/mobilestor/ms2utplus.html.
