News: NewTek Appoints Chuck Silber to Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales

Former Avid Technology VP of Sales and Service Operations helps manage NewTek’s rapid growth

(San Antonio, Texas--March 10, 2008) NewTek, Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading video and 3D animation products, announced today the appointment of Charles H. (“Chuck”) Silber to the position of Senior VP, Worldwide Sales.

Most recently the VP of Sales and Service Operations for Avid Technology of Tewksbury, MA, Chuck is charged with the expansion of NewTek’s reseller channel, growing and enhancing its sales organization and increasing revenue in its core video and 3D animation businesses. He will report directly to NewTek President and CEO Jim Plant.

“With his deep experience and understanding of the broadcast and video production arenas, as well as the many niche markets that make up our overall customer base, Chuck will play a key role in shaping the future of NewTek,” said Jim Plant, NewTek President and CEO. “Throughout his career, Chuck has a proven record of outstanding sales results, team building and channel development.”

As a VP at Avid Technologies - a position to which he was promoted in less time than anyone else in the company’s history - Chuck managed all aspects of a $280 million per year sales and professional services organization, including a direct sales force of more than 50 employees, a service organization of more than 200 employees, and a reseller network of more than 100 companies. He played an integral role in negotiating contracts in excess of $10 million each with major broadcast networks including NBC, CBS, ABC/Disney and Turner Broadcasting. Prior to becoming Vice President at Avid, Chuck held the positions of Director, Sales Operations; Regional Manager and Channel Sales Manager at the company.

Chuck began his career in digital media at MicroTech Solutions Inc. of Oakbrook , IL , where he rose to the post of Vice President of Sales before his departure in 2000.
