News: Revision3 Selects Softron's OnTheAir Video To Streamline Workflow For Web And On Air Productions
by Cow News Droid on Dec 2, 2007 at 4:04:28 pm

(San Francisco, CA--December 2, 2007) Revision3, a leading Internet TV network has selected Softron Media Services’ OnTheAir Video and associated products for use in their live studio production offices located in San Francisco, CA. Revision3 produces original, long form Internet TV programs for audiences passionate about technology, music, movies, comic books and other pop culture topics. The network uses OnAir Video to manage video playback operations workflow. OnTheAir Video is used for automated playout using its own scheduler and serves as a clip store for live news operations, local broadcast or live shows. Schedules can be created weeks in advance.

“In a studio space of less than 1600 square feet we have to move 2-3 shows a day through the studio and prepare media for the web,” said David Randolph, Chief Engineer for Revision3. “OnTheAir Video allows us this freedom without much cost or proprietary file formats,” “It has a simple easy to learn interface that is not hardware dependent - we can use it with off the shelf components without making a large investment in specialized hardware.”

In choosing the solution, Revision3 selected OnTheAir Video because it provides a complete operations workflow capability, its easy to use interface, and because it offers these robust capabilities at a fraction of the cost of similar systems.

Thanks to its powerful and reliable playback engine, OnTheAir Video supports within the same playlist many video formats such as Apple ProRes, MPEG-4, MPEG IMX, DVCam, DV, DVCProHD, DVCPro, DVCPro 50, DV50, Photo JPEG, M-JPEG etc... OnTheAir Video can support full HD resolution playback using Apple ProRes, DVCProHD or uncompressed video clips. All codecs can be mixed but the frame size must be identical. And OnTheAir Video is an open solution. It does not require any proprietary.

“Revision3’s adoption of our suite of products is very satisfying for us as because it confirms that our efforts over the last years have been right on,” said Daniel Tapie, CEO of Softron Media Services. “We wanted to make the very best open systems for integration into traditional and new media – at a price point that allows companies large and small to use the same applications. Revision3’s use demonstrates that our products are becoming widely known and respected.”
