Ingest, Broadcast and Newsroom Applications for Macintosh Answer Users' Needs
(Brussels, September 26, 2007) At The IBC Exhibition in Amsterdam, September 7 through 11, Softron Media Services of Brussels, Belgium, used several Blackmagic Design DeckLink HD Extreme card equipped workstations to showcase their new Suite of applications for ingesting, broadcasting and managing the newsroom.
One of the Blackmagic Design workstations was equipped with two of Blackmagic's DeckLink HD Extreme cards -- one for play back of high definition video provided to Softron Media by Luxe.tv of Luxembourg, itself an OnTheAir Video broadcaster that uses multiple DeckLink enabled workstations. The second output from the same MacPro workstation was playing back different video clips of standard definition footage. The SD output was directed into another Blackmagic enabled workstation which used Softron's new MovieRecorder application as well as Softron's soon-to-be released OnTheAir CG. Additionally, Softron collaborated with Ciprico to show OnTheAir video playing back streams of video using Apple's ProRes codec on a Blackmagic Design Intensity card.
"We are very pleased to be working with Blackmagic Design. Our customers are sensitive to quality and the overall price of a system, and the combination Blackmagic and Softron makes for a compelling case," said Daniel Tapie, CEO of Softron Media Services. "We are seeing an ever increasing interest not just in our products for broadcast, but for exhibition playout and kiosks as well. Blackmagic has a number of cards that are just right for these markets, too."
"Softron's software offers incredible ease of use along with powerful broadcast features," said Dan May, President, Blackmagic Design Inc. "When you wrap it up with the Blackmagic hardware, you've got a great product with high quality and excellent cost/performance. This combination of Blackmagic Design and Softron products offers new options for our customers."
Softron's OnTheAir Video is in use at over 300 broadcasters worldwide. It retails for $1795 in North and South America, for € 1295 in Europe and the rest of the world. Softron's newly released MovieRecorder and MovieRecorder DV retail for $895 (€695). OnTheAir CG lists for $1995 (€1495), OnTheAir News for $6850 (€5000.) Softron offers options for HD, Logo overlays and Multicahnnel audio playback as well.
