First opportunity to see former Pinnacle products working within an Avid broadcast environment

(IBC, Amsterdam - 9 September 2005) At IBC 2005, Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID) will be showcasing a wide range of Avid® and former Pinnacle® solutions working side by side for the first time.

With this expanded product portfolio on Avid's Broadcast Solutions stand, customers can experience how Avid's end-to-end digital production environments can further maximize productivity and efficiency. Avid's Editing Solutions stand will highlight its comprehensive line of postproduction solutions from new media to high-end finishing systems, working at both SD and HD resolutions, and demonstrated on both PC and Mac platforms.

“Now that Pinnacle's former broadcast products are part of Avid's robust end-to-end workflow, we're able to provide an expansive set of capabilities that meet the growing demands of broadcast professionals. As we achieve tighter integration between these industry-standard tools, customers will have more opportunities to focus on their creativity, and will know that they are working with the best technology available,” said Jeff Stewart, Avid's European product marketing director.

Avid's presence at IBC includes:
  • Broadcast Solutions – 1.210
Broadcast customers will benefit from Avid's experience and product capabilities in all-digital broadcast media production, which now includes a wider and more complete end-to-end workflow with Pinnacle's former broadcast solutions. Each of the four stages on this stand will focus on a specific broadcast area: News, Post, Graphics, and Playout. Systems on display include Avid NewsCutter ® Adrenaline ™ , Deko™, and MediaStream™. There will also be several Avid iNEWS ™ Instinct ™ editing systems available for hands-on testing, and Avid's Broadcast team will be available throughout the show to advise customers and answer questions.

  • Editing Solutions – 7.830
Avid will present demonstrations of a variety of editing and finishing solutions, showcasing work created by Avid customers, including feature films, documentaries, and pop promos. The demonstrations will feature Avid Media Composer ® Adrenaline HD, Avid Xpress ® Studio HD, and Avid Xpress Pro HD systems, and visitors will have the opportunity to test Avid Xpress Studio, Liquid™, and Avid Xpress Pro (on PC and Mac platforms) in the hands-on area.

  • The HD Challenge – 7.938
Visitors can see how Avid DNxHD™ technology can drastically reduce HD bandwidth and storage needs while preserving the high quality of precious HD footage during postproduction. Visitors are invited to take the HD challenge to see if they can spot the difference between uncompressed HD material compared with the same footage encoded using the Avid DNxHD codec.

  • The Training Zone
Avid is taking part in IBC's Training Zone, hosting hands-on workshop sessions to help visitors expand their skill sets. Training sessions will cover video editing on PC and Mac Avid Xpress Pro systems, graphics creation with Deko systems, and audio editing for video postproduction with Digidesign ® Pro Tools ® systems. Availability is limited for each session; visitors can visit www.ibc.org for more information.

  • IBC TV News
For the past seven years, Avid has supported IBC TV News, the daily news program which reports on the conference and exhibition. This year, Avid has supplied a Media Factory system to power the news production during the show. The Media Factory solution combines a range of scaleable, pre-configured tools for ingest, editing, shared storage, and distribution, and is designed to meet the functional and budgetary requirements of smaller broadcasters.
