Advanced effects and compositing solution integrates with industry-standard NLEs
(NAB 2005, Las Vegas, NV - Booth SL 4045) Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film, today announced that FX 8.0 is now available. FX is the industry standard for integrated effects creation. FX provides broadcast-quality effects and compositing features directly inside nonlinear editing systems.
"Boris FX dramatically expands the compositing and effects capabilities of more than 20 NLEs,” says Boris FX founder and president Boris Yamnitsky. "With the addition of new filters, including motion tracking and stabilizing, this version continues to provide maximum convenience for a streamlined effects workflow at an affordable price.”
Additional host support includes the Canopus Edius Pro 3, Media 100 HD and Pinnacle Liquid Edition version 6. Additional hardware support has also been added. The following improvements have been added to FX Version 8.0:
- A new Template Mode lets you create effects directly in the Library Browser.
- New Motion Tracking, Stabilizing and Corner Pin Tracker filters have been added. These filters were taken from the award-winning Boris Red.
- The Library Browser includes additional customizable presets to streamline effects creation. More presets will be available as a free download.
- Multiple optimizations provide an average of 20 percent rendering speed improvements.
- The Library Browser includes new customizable presets to streamline effects creation. Additional presets will soon be available for download.

- Better integration with Sony Pictures Digital Vegas Video and Adobe Premiere Pro.

You apply FX directly to clips in your host NLE timeline. Then you open a custom user interface where you create your effects. This architecture allows FX to share an interface that appears and behaves the same across different platforms and in each of the more than 20 supported NLEs, including Apple Final Cut Pro HD, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Avid systems. FX is a great value with realistic lighting, advanced keying and color correction, compositing, DVE, vector paint and support for third-party After Effects filters. More than 60 filters include motion tracking and image stabilization, as well as self-animating natural effects that easily interact with timeline video. In addition, FX includes the KeyFramer, a standalone application that creates effects offline using any computer. The KeyFramer is a cross-platform application that can be distributed free of charge.
FX and other Boris solutions will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasting Convention (NAB) 2005 in booth SL4045 in the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 18-21, 2005. Boris solutions will also be shown in the Avid Developer Community booth SL1210A.
