I think you songs are repetitious and basic. I like your use of sound in the second song, but it would be great if you could vary the beat and allow for pauses in the music. Your first song is too harshly mixed. It would sound better if the prominent sounds hi mids were cut. I like your chord progressions in the second song and I do think you could use these in Juno/Napoleon Dynamite movies, but you want to keep in mind what the songs are doing. If they are for movies, you may want to be more subtle in your mixing of harsh sounds. If they are for listening, what is the point; is it something that is going to catch your listener and keep them entertained and what types of devices help with luring your listener to stay for the long haul.
Minimalism is good, but it must fell good as well. Try copying songs you lke and figure out what they are doing with the mixing and sounds used.
