May I suggest the creation of a closed captioning forum?
I've been trying my best to answer as many closed captioning questions as possible on the other forums, but the questions tend to get spread out among other topics and I'm sure I've missed some questions which I could otherwise have answered. For example, I have recently replied to closed captioning questions in the Adobe Encore, Premiere Pro, DVD Studio Pro, AJA Kona, Final Cut Pro, and Matrox forums (and probably more).
Closed captioning is a very broad topic that runs the whole gamut of production, from live to post, hardware to software, tape and tapeless, across different media and codecs, different NLE systems, Mac/Win, etc. so it is not something that can definitively be placed in any one existing forum.
If a forum could be created for closed captioning, I would be happy to moderate it and possibly maintain a FAQ for it. Although I do work for a closed captioning software company, I will do my best to remain unbiased and will avoid negative posts about other solutions. (And if anyone comes along who is knowledgeable enough about closed captioning and who is less biased than me, I will pass the torch.)
If there are any preliminary steps you'd like me to take before the creation of a forum, please let me know.
If you disagree with my logic, then I will continue to answer the questions in the various other forums as I find them. :)
