Quickest was to duplicate in a sequence is to opt-drag. Hold shift to constrain to vertical moves....

That's the way to import them. They're probably that soft. A good location recordist will leave plenty of room for headroom, just in case it gets loud all of a sudden. Use the "Peak Limiter" filter, and boost the pre-gain....

If you use the media manager in a certain way, you can chose to only recapture the footage used in your timeline, rather than having to recapture the full duration of each tape. So, it could drasticly shorten your re-ingest time....
