I'd line up the audio with the video and output one master audio track...that way when you go into your digital audio workstation, you're working with only what you need.
I usually bring the edited video in for reference as well...

The Windows Pro Res decoder is available from Apple for no cost.
I think Pro Res only comes with FCP...I don't even think it's included in QT Pro on the Mac...It is not on the PC, I know that.

The dynamic range of the camera is a separate issue from the codec or bitrate... detail in the darker areas can be affected by compression, but digital clip is digital clip, and the brightest areas of a conventional video...

Basically, this is what I would do, short of formatting the drive and reinstalling Vista.
Uninstall all Adobe software, including flash, Acrobat, etc.
Delete all Adobe folders afterwards. First you will have to go to Control panel > Folder options > View...
