COW Leader

Tim KolbTim Kolb
COW member since April 10th 2001 from Neenah, Wisconsin, USA

In video production since 1986.

I've worked in broadcast news, educational/institutional production, network sports, and have been "independent" (with up to 12 employees in the 90s, but on my own now) since 1990.

I've moved into HD post gradually over the last several years and have gradually eased out of shooting to directing and editing.

I've been involved in software development and HD workflow research over the last year or two...

My other jobs include: Advisor to institutional investors as a consultant with Coleman Research Group, I judge Tellys and Emmys as well as a couple of University competitions, author, trainer, ...and I suppose I should have listed husband and father much closer to the top of the list...

Hobbies and Interests: You mean some of you have time for something else besides video?

My 8 year old son likes Monster Trucks and Tractor Pulls...not exactly the tea and crumpet set, but if he enjoys it, I do too.

I have been known to pull out a guitar and quickly clear the house of unwanted guests...

Comments and Things Worth Noting:
Been in this business since 1986 and no nervous breakdown yet...that's worth noting.

Unless you have money to start playing with the big boys, talk of "fraud" is probably going to keep you from making any move at all... The Scarlett you started talking about will likely use a Bayer sensor like the RED...

The Matrox card accelerates the effects that come with the Matrox card inside PPro and gives you video in/out ports... The other two cards are of course, Open GL cards. The GTX series are gamer cards and the Quadro series are the...

I'd line up the audio with the video and output one master audio track...that way when you go into your digital audio workstation, you're working with only what you need. I usually bring the edited video in for reference as well...

Thanks Tim. I'll probably go with AME as I think this is the biggest addition to the suite. Speech to text is certainly an amazing function, but I think it's a loaded gun because its accuracy is not so great. I'll keep thinking about the angle.

Are u working on a CS4 review? I was about to start writing one up then thought there might be other cow leaders in beta that would be doing one too.
