As to LiveType, yes, it will remain on your machine, and yes, it will definitely work with FCP7, and there is still and Export to LiveType function.

It doesn't. MPEG is a delivery format. Normally the material is converted to QuickTime using a production codec, depending on what you started with and where you're going and what you need to do in between.

Second render everything to full in your sequence.
Mixdown the audio.

Do you have the two clips one on top of the other in the timeline? If you're having difficulty manipulating the layers, lock the V1 track so that you only scale and crop the top layer.

I guess you're using the basic text tool. Don't. That's just one of its limitations. Use Title 3D.
