I am one of those like your friend who is more than happy with 8 bit. A lot of my work goes out on Beta which is 8 bit, so 10 bit is a total waste of space and render...

Michael, Another vote for AE. FCPs keyframing is just awful. and not just for the easing method. We need to hammer at Apple to fix this, instead of adding glitz to the Studio that is just cosmetic. Let's have some basic functionality...
