Franklin McMahon is a director, producer, writer, podcaster, designer, photographer, career development speaker and coach with an extensive client list that includes Microsoft, FOX, Time Warner, Yahoo and Amazon.com. He specializes in podcast production, on-line video and HD video production, new media marketing, commercial photography, talent promotion, self development consulting, publication writing as well as design and multimedia client work. And yes he does not sleep a whole lot.
Podcaster
As an award-winning podcaster, Franklin’s shows have generated millions of downloads in over 20 countries and have been sponsored by some of the biggest brands in the business, including Adobe, HP, Marie Claire Magazine, Covergirl Cosmetics, Partida Tequila, Shell, McDonalds, 20th Century Fox, Tylenol PM, Earthlink, GoDaddy, PetMeds, KY and BBC America. Many of the shows he has produced have been at the top of the charts in iTunes including Rumor Girls, Secrets of Second Life, CreativeCOW Podcast, Media Artist Secrets, Mary and Karla, ShowGirls and Women of YouTube. His podcast Rumor Girls has also been aired weekly on Sirius Satellite Radio and in 2006 Yahoo News reported that Rumor Girls was the 5th most downloaded video podcast of the year.
Photographer
As an international photographer, Franklin’s work has been featured in print and on-line around the world, with projects ranging from photographing print ads for Microsoft to national magazine covers to commercial projects to model portfolios, his imagery is dynamic and highly stylized.
Director / Producer
Franklin brings to the table over a decade of experience in both broadcast (FOX) and cable (Time Warner) where he produced hundreds of weekly shows, live specials and telethons, narrative series and award winning commercial productions. Equally at home directing in the control booth, working on an editing system, on-location shooting HD video or mixing sound scores for a production, his skill set runs the full spectrum of visual and audio storytelling. Always part of the independent community, he has run the Portland Media Artists organization for ten years, a group designed to connect media artists. He has also produced and hosted countless film festivals and night life events, including serving as media director for the Portland Festival of World Cinema produced by MovieMaker Magazine. All the events being designed to feature, as well as unite, hundreds of creative artists.
Writer
He has been writing about video production, new media marketing, photography, broadcast, music scoring, web technologies, design and the entertainment industry for over a decade in print for magazines such as Digital Content Producer, DV, Res, Publish, MovieMaker, Computer Arts Projects, MacWeek as well as on-line for websites such as Microsoft, CNET and Layers Magazine. Writing styles include features, software and hardware reviews, content writing, interviews, profiles and tutorials.
