IN the deck (in the 800s in the menu) set the deck to output DV. Then set FCP to the DV/NTSC EASY SETUP and then capture. That should work.

This is easily created using the Basic 3D tool in FCP. Just tilt the text back and slide it along front to back.
For something that looks better, use Motion.
Better yet, use After Effects.

i use the Quantum SuperDLT SDLT600a, which is gigabit ethernet and MXF-aware. the tapes are 300GB, and i can access the tapes from any computer, Mac or PC, from a web browser on my local network. its convenient and cheap...
