Hi Charles, glad to hear that you enjoyed the article. I'm currently working on a video tutorial on how to use Automator in Leopard to automate repetitive keystrokes and actions. I've been using it to automate the replacement of supers by taking the correct supers from an excel spreadsheet.
Essentially, the consoles are relatively straightforward once you can ingest from them properly. It's getting the capture card to recognize the video signal that's the tricky bit. Capturing from PC is much more complicated as you end up dealing with screencapture software and proprietary codecs that need to be transcoded to files readable by OSX before they can be used in FCP. I used to use DVCPRO50 as my baseline codec but Prores has taken over as my new favorite.
Look out for my video tutorials in a couple of months!

Just wanted to say that was a fantastic article on Media Management / File naming conventions etc... really enjoyed the read and look forward to applying it to future work... I actually was hoping you would go into more detail in regards to what files you convert everything into to work with natively and then how you go about exporting + what you export as/onto.
As a huge gamer myself (PC+PS3) and a fulltime editor - it was a great read! keep up the great articles, and any more info on your conversions + workspace would be great!
