I just got one of the new MAC G4 1.25 computers. I have not gone to the geethree.com website yet, but it appears that there is no place to mount the geethree Stealth port for VTR control.
(the actual connector that used to mount in the modem RJ11 port).
You certainly can't leave the serial port hanging out of the computer. What do you do?

Thanks as always.

Bob,

On these new G4s you will need to sacrifice a PCI slot for the serial port...bummer. I do believe Geethree has a PCI plate for the serial port adapter for mounting. This is actually mentioned in the Geethree website.

Don't attempt to take out the RJ11 connector...in fact I don't think you can...it's literally "stuck" to the motherboard and you'll have to bypass the gigantorous heatsink first.

What about on the Xserve? Can the DB-9 connection work for machine control?

You'll need an RS-232 to RS-422 adapter from Addenda electronics.

We just built two CineWave systems based on these new G4's and we had to get the PCI faceplate adapter for the Stealth. Works great, but you give up the use of a PCI slot.
