Ok, first time I lost media. I was getting ready to online some HD footage and outputted an EDL. I brought the EDL back in and for some reason (named it the same thing as my timeline, duh).
Well. I lost my media hookup with my original timeline.
Now, first of all, everything is OK, I went in and retrieved a back up. But, how do you re-link media in the timeline. Book says "right click on clip in bin and re-link" well first of all, I want to re-link the timeline not the bin. But if I drag the timeline to a bin my re-link is grayed out.

What dumb thing am I doing wrong? Just when you think you have the program figured out, it bites you. I'm just not looking in the right place.

Did you get a window where you need to search for a file? I don't know what the excact phrase is but there should be a filename and after that something like: filename-V-1.

This window should appear when you open the timeline and the media is lost. This should be available in the project window when you right click.

I'm at home now and my machine is at my work so if you like I can check it monday, if you like.

Best,

Jöran

I click o n the clip in the timeline and shift-control-F.
I then tell it to find used media. I find the file, right click-hit relink media .
and nutten happens.

Hmmm, that's strange.
It seams that you do it right, your project media folder is in the right place?
Let me see if I can reproduce it for you, on monday.

I will keep you informed.

Best,

Jöran

Thanks, Im going to mess with it a little while I am getting all of my off line projects ready to go next week. Might be a bug, I will also give Tech support a call Monday.

But, how do you re-link media in the timeline.

What happens if you right-click the timeline in the project window and select the item marked "Relink Media..."?

[Colin Cashman] "What happens if you right-click the timeline in the project window and select the item marked "Relink Media..."? "

Relink doesn't showup in the timeline.

Relink doesn't showup in the timeline.

There should be an option in the project window to relink the timeline. Find the entry in the project window for the timeline you wish to relink and right-click on the entry. A context menu should appear that has a "Relink Media..." entry in it.

Ok, figured it out. somehow my settings got messed up. I re-selected my media locations and it found everything.

Thanks to all.
